1. Overview & Core Philosophy

ZumiFiles (and the companion ZumiFiles CORS Helper Chrome extension) is designed with a strict local-first privacy architecture. Your files, directory trees, documents, 3D models, photos, source code, and metadata never leave your computer. All file parsing, thumbnail rendering, formatting, and analysis execute 100% locally inside your browser sandbox.

2. Data Collection & Analytics

We collect zero personal data. ZumiFiles does not track user activity, log file paths, collect IP addresses, or employ third-party analytics trackers.

No File Uploads: Files opened via the File System Access API or drag-and-drop are parsed entirely in local memory.
No Telemetry: No tracking pixels, cookies, or telemetry analytics scripts are embedded.
No Data Sharing: We do not collect, monetize, or share user data with third parties.

3. ZumiFiles CORS Helper Extension

The ZumiFiles CORS Helper Chrome extension is a single-purpose developer utility that allows ZumiFiles to preview remote file URLs.

Functionality: Intercepts cross-origin HTTP requests initiated by ZumiFiles (`zumilabs.com`, `localhost`, and `127.0.0.1`) to append permissive CORS headers (`Access-Control-Allow-Origin: *`).
No Data Collection: The extension has no background tracking scripts, no storage database, and transmits zero user data.
Scoped Initiator Rules: Header modifications apply strictly to requests initiated by ZumiFiles. Third-party browsing activity is completely untouched.

4. Third-Party Technical Network Requests

To provide mapping visualizers and office document rendering, public web assets are fetched over HTTP in two specific situations:

Map Tile Layers: Interactive map viewers (GeoJSON, GPX, KML) retrieve public raster map tiles from OpenStreetMap & CARTO servers (we cannot serve maps of the whole world locally!).
DocMentis Engine: Legacy document parsing loads sandboxed, optimised on-device code via CDN on initial launch.
